About the role

Forming a key part of the JP9101 Enhanced Defence High Frequency Communications System, your expertise will be integral in the design, development, integration, and verification of the software required to deliver this major communications system. You’ll have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of the Software Engineering Lifecycle, from the derivation of software requirements, software development, integration, testing, and deployment.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide technical expertise for specifications, design, code, and testing.
  • Participating in the development and maintenance of software components and associated simulators using Agile development methods
  • Developing an understanding of the operational use of the associated system under development
  • Participating in the specification and maintenance of software requirements
  • Designing, implementing, and testing software components to meet the specified requirements in accordance with approved software engineering processes, design rules and guidelines
  • Producing all artefacts required for deliverables and internal reviews
  • Participating in reviews of software and documentation as required

About you

  • Hold a relevant degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Have at least 5 years' relevant experience in relatable roles
  • Proven experience of C/C++ and .Net
  • Understanding and experience of Object-Oriented Programming
  • An understanding of Agile Software Engineering best practices
  • An understanding of three-tier web application software architecture and REST+JSON
  • Experience with managing legacy software development products
  • Database Development.
  • Experience with a modern IDE
  • Understanding of DevOps and Automated Testing.
  • Understanding of both Agile and Waterfall development methodologies
  • Well established verbal and written communication skills, with ability to engage with all business stakeholders.
  • An understanding of the Defence Capability Life Cycle is desirable.
