Your new role:
BAE Systems Maritime Australia (formerly known as ASC Shipbuilding), has been contracted to deliver nine of the world's most advanced anti-submarine warfare frigates to the Royal Australian Navy. The Hunter Class Frigate Program will create and sustain more than 5,000 jobs across BAE Systems and the wider Australian defence supply chain over the life of the program.
The Verification & Acceptance (V&A) Engineer is responsible for undertaking Mission System V&A activities in support of ensuring Design compliance. This includes the conduct of design verification; developing and updating requirements, undertaking Test & Inspection activities as products become available and the oversight of other verification streams.
In terms of more specific responsibilities, you will:

  • Mature ship requirements by developing changes and resolving issues
  • Verify Mission System (ship requirements through the review, collation and submission of documentation or evidence
  • Create or revise design documents (contract deliverables, system & subsystem specifications, test procedures, test reports, change reports)
  • Create or revise supporting documents (templates, reviews, minutes, presentations, agendas)
  • Defining and updating processes
  • Review sub-contractor documents for acceptable quality and compliance with their obligations
  • Work with external stakeholders such as the customer, regulatory authorities and sub-contractors to develop the Hunter Class V&A program as required
  • Support the Engineering community in their understanding of the V&A program.
  • Prepare and distribute metrics on the V&A program as required

About you
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you will have:

  • Relevant working or industry Experience
  • Good communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with engineers within the project
  • As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance
  • A University degree level engineering qualification

Whilst not essential, Defence industry, naval architecture, certification and combat system experience , will be highly regarded.

Clearances
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
