We currently have rewarding opportunities for Subcontract Officer within our Maritime Sustainment line of business. Flexible location (Melbourne or Perth), hybrid working arrangement and 9 days a fortnight full time working arrangements are on offer.

Your new role:
Reporting to the Procurement and Subcontract Manager, you will be responsible to establish, place and manage appropriate contracting arrangement with subcontractors and suppliers to deliver the cost, schedule, quality and safety requirements of the business.
In addition, you will get an opportunity to manage high value, high risk complex contracts for our platform area supporting Maritime Sustainment program
More specifically, you will:

  • Support the program in leading supplier negotiation, finalise supplier agreements and adhere to contractual obligations through effective commercial management including milestones, claims, notices/letters, invoices and flow down of contract amendments
  • Undertake contract management activities for major subcontracts including but not limited to the preparation of scope notice, contract change proposal, variation, certificate of conformance or milestone achievement documentation
  • Proactively manage the performance of suppliers to meet the contractual requirement from schedule, cost and quality perspective
  • Facilitate and maintain effective working relationship with subcontractors and lead or support the commercial subcontract meetings to ensure maintenance of interface with the subcontractor
  • Support to generate and manage lifecycle management of procurement subcontract management plans and ensure that emerging risks are identified, costed and monitored
  • Implement and follow the procurement policies and processes ensuring the compliance of relevant acts, legal demands and ethical standards
  • Lead the commercial subcontracts meetings and attend operational subcontract meetings as required to assist the project manager

About you:
As an applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:

  • Relevant demonstrated experience in commercial or procurement roles, preferably in defence or engineering organisations
  • Proven track record in contract administration management with strong attention to detail
  • Good commercial acumen and analytical skill with an experience or understanding of project management
  • An ability to show initiative, prioritise and meeting deadlines coupled with an ability to progress issues and resolve actions within a project team environment
  • Strong communicator with an ability to foster strong relationship with suppliers, project team and the supplier's key subcontractors

Whilst not essential, completion of engineering, supply chain, procurement or commercial degree qualification coupled with demonstrated experience is highly desirable.
