We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Senior Communications Manager, Maritime, to join our team based in Adelaide. You will be responsible for the provision of strategic communications advice, planning and execution to support the delivery of BAE Systems' Maritime Program of work.

Your new role:
Reporting to the Head of Communications you will be responsible for the development and planning of all communications outputs and associated budgets that support the Maritime business.
More specifically, you will be accountable for:
- Developing and executing communications strategies and plans aligned with business strategy
- Leading discussions and managing relationships with key stakeholders, to ensure a consistent message is delivered across our business
- Effective media and issues management
- Planning and managing activities across several communication plans simultaneously for internal and external audiences
- Measuring and reporting on the communication program's effectiveness to help improve short and long term planning, strategies and tactics
- Supporting leaders to understand enterprise-wide strategic programs
- Forming partnerships with key stakeholders and groups to ensure that Communications is involved at the beginning of programs of activity and to determine key milestones/dates
- Working closely with internal leaders develop and executing stakeholder engagement and communications programs
- Positively motivating and leading a team to help deliver the required strategic outcomes
About you:
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- Communications experience in a heavy industrial, construction, energy or similar background.
- Exceptional collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively with other functions in our business, the communications team and businesses
- Previous leadership experience to coach and mentor a small team
- Proven negotiation and problem solving skills with astute judgement and political awareness
- Strong results orientation, resilience and a positive approach to issues resolution.
- Media and issues management experience
- Proven experience in effectively communicating with senior leadership
- An ability to use and adapt written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of difference audiences is critical to this role
- Appropriate tertiary qualification in Journalism, Communications or equivalent.
- In-depth knowledge of the Company, its strategy, operations, business objectives and industry
