We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer within our Maritime Sustainment Line of Business. This role is based in our Henderson facility in WA.

Your new role:
The Senior Mechanical Engineer is production-facing role, accountable for supporting the production, installation and set to work of mechanical platform systems and/or equipment in accordance with the contractual and Company requirements in order to achieve the required business performance.
This involves providing a wide range of engineering support including acting as the interface between production and the engineering design teams, providing technical guidance for the manufacture, assembly, testing and maintenance of systems. This role will also see you responsible for investigation and resolution of design, functional, material and safety issues related to installing, maintaining and managing the systems and equipment against technical, schedule and cost goals.
In particular, this role will see you:
The successful candidate would ideally have experience in leading and developing a small team of engineers, bringing with them a broad range of technical expertise in mechanical systems such as pneumatic, hydraulic and HVAC design
Reporting to the Engineering Team Lead you will:
- Support the production, installation and set to work of mechanical platform systems and/or equipment
- Create, triage and assess Problem Identification Reports relating to Mechanical Systems issues
- Providing guidance and training to both Production Engineers and Technicians to facilitate more efficient production and assembly of product
- Highlight any safety issues noticed in the performance and function of the product
- Undertake, or contribute to, root cause analysis of system issues
- Undertake site inspections and verifications as required
- Provide regular status information to the relevant supervisors as required
- Advise post design changes as required from production department or client
- Ensure all documents and artefacts generated by the team are completed and managed in accordance with appropriate standard procedures and work instructions including compliance with the required product change management and quality control processes
- Manage the planning (cost and schedule), allocation and deployment of team members and workload
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you will have;
- Extensive experience in being responsible for the development of Mechanical designs, participation in design reviews, undertaking typical design analyses and implementation of solutions, their integration, validation and qualification testing
- Naval Architecture / Mechanical / Aeronautical / Structural Engineering degree qualification and satisfy the requirements for membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia
- A strong understanding of Design for manufacture, Cost, Safety, Environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with employees and customers at all levels
