This position is available for remote work and candidates across Australia will be considered.

Your new role:
You will be working on the Hunter Class Frigate (HCF) project providing acoustic engineering design guidance and modelling support in the management of ship noise and vibration signatures, primarily in Underwater Radiated Noise (URN).
You will develop and maintain mathematical models with the objective to providing ship signature predictions that inform and influence ship design, in order to achieve contractual requirements.
As an Acoustic Signatures Engineer you will:
- Develop and maintain Underwater Radiated Noise (URN) models as required for HCF URN signatures modelling and analysis using a combination of Excel and Matlab
- Undertake URN analysis to identify opportunities for the improvement of ship signature performance and liaise with system design teams to implement design modifications
- Undertake supplier equipment analysis to validate ship signatures prediction modelling and mitigate against project risk
- Provide support to Engineering Manager in the development of modelling techniques to improve modelling accuracy and efficiency
- Report on signatures analysis at Project Design Reviews, and other technical meetings as required
- Undertake engineering activities using company IT systems in accordance with the Engineering Framework
- Ensure all documents and artefacts generated within own sphere of responsibility are completed and managed in accordance with delivery schedule
- Seek and share good practice and knowledge to continuously improve own practices.
About you
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:

Relevant Engineering/Naval Architecture/Mathematics/Physics degree qualification and satisfying the requirements for membership of the Institute of Engineers Australia

Meet the requirements for registration as Chartered Professional Engineer with Engineers Australia and preferably be a member of Engineers Australia.

Experience in any of the following areas is desirable:

Commercial or Defence shipbuilding;

Mechanical design engineering;
-
Acoustics engineering;
-
Noise & Vibration engineering;
-
Mathematical modelling;
-
FEA / FEM / Matlab modelling

Ability to work in multi-disciplinary engineering design teams across the UK and Australia

Proven problem solving and analytical skills and the confidence to seek advice when unsure of an approach or technology

Hold Eligibility for Australian Defence Security Clearance.
