We currently have an exciting opportunity as a Surveillance Systems Technical Specialist within our Battlespace Surveillance Centre (BSC).

Your new role:
As a Surveillance Systems Technical Specialist you will be responsible for ensuring the operational availability of ICT and engineering systems in support of the RAAF surveillance capabilities. The role will see you working twelve hour shifts across a shift pattern which encompasses day and nights working less than half the days in a calendar year.
As a Surveillance Systems Technical Specialist you will:
- Support ICT and technical systems in order to maintain the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) and other relevant surveillance systems.
- Perform basic network administration functions utilising the Red Hat operating system.
- Assist in system level fault-finding including the management of faults and liaising between the customer, field technicians and engineering teams.
- Perform inspections and conduct preventative maintenance to ensure availability of ICT systems, emergency backup power and cooling systems.
- Ensuring documentation of all faults and maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with engineering procedures.
About you
As an ideal applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- Broad technical IT experience in multiple areas including networking, systems admin.
- Experience in administering Red Hat Linux operating system is highly desirable
- Experience in network troubleshooting including switching and routing
- Experience in RF or radar systems
- Currently holds a Negative Vetting 2 security clearance and may be expected to apply for Positive Vetting

Clearances
As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
