We currently have an exciting opportunity as an Engineering Change Officer (Combat Systems) within our Maritime Sustainment line of business.This role is preferred to be based in Garden Island – NSW but we will also consider other locations - Melbourne, Canberra or Adelaide with hybrid working and 9 days a fortnight full time working arrangements are on offer.

Your new role:
Reporting to the Combat Systems Engineering Manager, you will provide technical leadership and guidance to the Combat Systems functions within the Destroyer Enterprise.
You will be responsible for ensuring efficient and effective designs solutions for engineering changes to the Hobart Class Destroyers including integration of new warfare capabilities.
More specifically, you will
- Act as an integrated member of the Combat Systems team, representing Combat Systems functions both internally across the DDG Enterprise and externally
- Develop task plans (including estimates, cost and schedule) for Combat Systems Projects and remain accountable for the holistic development and delivery of these tasks
- Manage Combat Systems engineering tasks in accordance with budget, schedule and priority as directed by the Combat Systems Engineering Manager and conduct Design Acceptance activities
- Contribute to team planning activities, risk management, quality and SHE
- Manage Combat Systems related engineering studies, evaluations and test & trials; including being accountable for the maintenance and update of the Destroyer Combat System elements
- Attend/conduct project meetings, design reviews and peer reviews as required
About you:
As an applicant for this opportunity, you'll have:
- Experience within a related Engineering discipline with demonstrated experience in the technical development and systems design
- Experience in at least some of the following areas of Combat Systems Engineering: Navigation Systems, Electronic Warfare, EMI/EMC, Communications, Weapons Systems, Sensors, Combat Management Systems, Networks, Verification and Validation
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment or autonomously
- Ability to partner with and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to obtain the necessary deliverables
Formal Engineering qualification and experience in at least one Engineering Discipline, e.g. Electrical, Computer Systems, Mechatronics, Telecommunications, Systems Engineering etc. with ability to obtain chartered professional engineer status. Defence / Military experience is highly desirable.

As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain appropriate clearance.
