We currently have an exciting opportunity to join us as an Operations Capability & Governance Manager within our Maritime Australia line of business based at our Osborne shipyard in Adelaide. This position reports into our Head of Operations Management – Hunter Class Frigate Program who is responsible for overseeing Operations Resource and staff Capability Management for the Hunter Operations team, ensuring that highly capable support is available to support the Program.

Your new role:
The Resourcing Capability and Governance Manager is responsible for supporting the mobilisation and continuing development of the Operations Maritime function, by managing the tactical resource deployment across the Global Combat Ship Program, whilst developing the Operations training and development strategy, ensuring introduction of best practice and improving the capability and development of its people. In more specific terms you will:
- Contribute to the leadership of the Operations Management team
- Develop and manage the Hunter Class Operations Training and Development SQEP Database.
- Hold responsibility of managing resource capability data, liaising with trade trainers to update and refresh Operations status.
- Manage strategic resource capability levels to ensure Operations blue collar workforce have the required capabilities to deliver against Hunter Class schedule
- Present capability gaps along with potential Risks and Opportunities to Operations Management providing recommendations and mitigation activities
- Lead the delivery of training intervention requirements to HR. Ensuring Operations resources have a clear path to progress through Operations competencies
- Complete forecasting of training budgets and training labour profiles for Hunter Class Program
- Be responsible for management of Operations training spend budget as liaison with Finance and HR training CAM owners
- Develop & manage Operations Staff Career Pathways and career planning tools
- Manage strategic resource capability levels to ensure Operations white collar workforce have the required capabilities to deliver against Hunter Class schedule
- Develop, manage and maintain Operations staff SQEP assessments, training needs analyses and capability reports
- Identify Operations staff capability gaps, mitigations and sourcing of training and development activities through business SMEs and external RTOs
- Assist Operations line managers to facilitate succession planning and personnel development plans
- Provide overall governance for all Operations departments' SQEP tools, processes, and capability management practices
- Lead Integration of Operations SQEP reporting methods, tools and practices across all BAE Maritime Australia Shipyards including Acquisition and Sustainment Business Units
- Source recommended training and development activities for Operations staff on Hunter Program and provide functional support for Sustainment programmes
- Lead integration of Operations Job Role Mapping and Career Pathways across entire BAE Maritime Function
- Develop and maintain a Maritime Operations personnel expertise directory to best utilise specialist skills and expertise across various Maritime locations
- Lead development and governance of Operations training & SQEP data in BAE corporate systems
- Conduct Operations/Shipbuild labour capability analysis for upcoming projects and future business opportunities
- Act as Maritime Operations representative to align all SQEP and capability practices to BAE Australia enterprise HR and Manufacturing Function Capability Framework
- Line management of a small direct team of capability coordinators – including goal setting, training and development and recruitment activities

- Good knowledge and working experience in all aspects of overall systems development lifecycle
- Solid team building, coaching and mentoring skills
- Ability to negotiate with and influence internal and/or external stakeholders in a way which generates business benefit whilst maintaining key relationships
- Experience in liaising with customers and sub-contractors on technical and schedule issues
- Team leader skills
- Hold current Baseline Security Clearance or meet eligibility requirements
