About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a great opportunity for a software engineer to join our Hunter Class project based at Tonsley, South Australia, reporting to the Lead Software Engineer.
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
You will be responsible for designing, testing and developing software solutions and working on integrating existing systems.
Working across all aspects of cutting-edge technology to emerging maritime requirements & needs.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct software engineering and integration activities as directed by the Software Integration Lead within the Research & Technology (R&T) portfolio maintaining alignment with applicable technology roadmap(s)
- Support collaboration with key stakeholders, OEMs, SMEs, VIPs, academia
- Provide concise updates on activities and progress to the team as required
- Establish a comprehensive testing framework to validate the reliability, and security of all integrated solutions, encompassing unit, integration, and functional testing
- Support interaction between the software integration team and Information Management & Technology (IM&T) units, aligning software integration efforts with the organization's broader IT strategy
- Be accountable for the designing, testing, and validation of modules for integrating both third-party and custom-developed software at an Enterprise & Industrial level ensuring they meet required functional and performance criteria
- Ability to work with a variety of languages and frameworks such as C#, Python, Java and JavaScript
About YOU
- Demonstrated experience in the areas of Software Engineering, Computer Science or Information Technology
- Relevant Tertiary qualification is considered essential for this role
- A background in Web and/ or Back-end development is desirable
- Possess strong communication skills and a can-do attitude
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with an evolving scope of work
- The successful candidate must hold or be eligible to obtain a baseline security clearance
