About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Detail Designer to join our Maritime Sustainment Unit based at Melbourne, reporting to the Senior Detail Designer.
You will be responsible and accountable for the provision of professional design and detail drafting services that are accurate, safe, on time and on budget.
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage your own time in order to meet deadlines
- Provide status updates of assigned tasks at required timeframes in either verbal or written form
- Deliver assigned products within budgeted costs and schedule
- Actively seek self-improvement in own skills in both technical and non-technical areas
- Identify areas of process improvement and seek to implement agreed changes
- Actively seek to improve the team's technical capability with support from management
About YOU
- Drafting qualification e.g Technical Certificate in Engineering or equivalent industry experience
- 5-8 years as a draftsperson, preferably within Naval/Maritime, Defence or Allied Industry
- Demonstrated experience working with AutoCAD and/or Inventor CAD software
- Ability to collaborate with others, including engineers, production and other draftspersons
- Self-motivated and able to work effectively under limited supervision.
- Drafting to DEF(AUST)5085, AS1100, AS/NZS 1102
- Geometric Tolerancing
- Drafting (Assemblies, Parts Lists, Parts etc.)
- Change and Configuration control
- Use of PTC Windchill PLM tool
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Defence security clearance or eligibility is required
