The Head of First Nations Values is an important part of this commitment, to lead, support and develop our highly skilled First Nations team.
About the role
This role will continue to strengthen relationships with Traditional Owners whilst building the capacity of Barwon Water to deliver programs, services and projects that incorporates the knowledge and needs of the wider First Nations community of the Barwon Region.
Our Strategy 2030 vision is to enable regional prosperity and one of the key Outcomes is to Care for Country. In this senior role, you’ll align strategies, plans and policies across the organisation whilst creating a clear line of sight between the daily work of each of the organisation’s people and the Group’s big strategic goals.
We are looking for an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with significant experience in engaging and collaborating with Traditional Owners and First Nations people to deliver agreed partnership projects. Strong communication, both written and verbal, and project management skills will support the development and delivery of strategic level outcomes that bring together First Nations Cultural and community values.
About you
An experienced leader, you are adept at influencing colleagues and collaborators. You’re passionate to deliver real change, a natural communicator, and you build strong and meaningful internal and external relationships to drive outcomes and improvements.
You’re someone with excellent business and financial skills, with an understanding of how to align business and community needs with environmental, sustainability and financial goals.
You have a detailed knowledge of relevant legislation and policies relating to the recognition of Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Cultural Heritage. Your knowledge of Aboriginal Culture and contemporary society will help in advising and resolving complex and sensitive issues.
