Metering Officer
- Operational, hands-on role in the field
- Community values driven organisation
- Flexible working arrangements
At Barwon Water, every interaction is an opportunity to deliver outstanding value to our customers and community. If you’re practical, customer-focused, and thrive on making a difference through reliable service, this could be the role for you.
About the Role
As a Metering Officer, you’ll join a close-knit team, responsible for maintaining Barwon Water’s water meter fleet, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. You’ll be responsible for activities in the field, including installing, servicing, and replacing meters, managing the Large Meter Maintenance Program, and supporting the introduction and troubleshooting of smart meters.
You’ll assist with inspections, support enforcement and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external providers, completing paperwork and investigation. You'll support timely examination of asset condition, repairs, meter readings, and replacements.
About You
You are proactive, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a small, supportive team. You bring strong written and verbal communication skills, a commitment to customer service, and a knack for problem solving.
You are capable to manage and maintain water meters such as installing, replacing, and servicing, and understand the need to respond in timely manner as well as acting as a brand ambassador for Barwon Water. You enjoy working with stakeholders and communicate with clarity and purpose.
Your background may include a trade qualification or similar and your experience in practical and customer facing roles will underpin your success.
As this is a field based role, a current driver’s licence and willingness to undertake a pre-employment health assessment are essential as well as ability to obtain a confined space entry license. Ongoing development opportunities are available to ensure your continued growth.
