  • Community values driven organisation

  • True flexible working arrangements, supportive team culture

Are you a finance professional seeking a role with deeper impact? This role is more than numbers, so if you’re looking for a fresh challenge in 2026, read on…

About the Role

The Financial Accountant – Assets at Barwon Water, plays a pivotal role in supporting the delivery of accurate and timely asset and CWIP (Capital Works Investment Program) financial reporting.

Working closely with Project Managers with a focus on asset lifecycle management, you will finalise the capitalisation of assets post-commissioning to align project deliverables with financial requirements. You’ll maintain asset registers, perform reconciliations, and process capital transactions, ensuring data integrity and compliance with accounting standards.  You’ll support stakeholders with CWIP recording and reporting, and work closely externally for reporting obligations and preparing and responding to audit queries.

Your work will directly contribute to the organisation’s transition to modern, dynamic project accounting, delivering actionable insights and tailored outputs for a diverse range of stakeholders.  You’ll contribute to continuous improvement and innovation as part of a team that values effective communication, growth and resilience all while championing a culture of safety and wellbeing in the workplace.

This is a fixed term contract until July 2028.

About you

Your growth mindset and personal resilience will be key to your success, thriving in a collaborative environment and driving outcomes with ambition and accountability. With a degree in business, commerce, or finance, and professional accounting accreditation (CA/CPA preferred or in progress), you have considerable knowledge and skills in financial services, asset accounting, and public-sector reporting.

A detail-oriented professional with strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and asset management, you have proven experience in interpreting and analysing complex financial data and are confident in using ERP and accounting systems.

Your excellent communication skills enable you to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, and you can manage multiple priorities while delivering accurate outcomes within deadlines.
