We are on the lookout for a Data Development Lead to join our innovative Digital Team to ensure maximum uptime, stability and ongoing efficiency across the Betfair network. As a guru in this space, the successful candidate will be driving a wide variety of critical work, including ensuring that applications developed fit the strategic landscape and meet the business objectives.

Our Digital Team are working on some incredible initiatives at the moment! These initiatives span the breadth of building next generation of channels through to streaming of enterprise scale data.

This role has key ownership to deliver on the vision as the Data Development Lead is responsible for developing the next generation of Betfair event driven data systems whilst also fitting in to existing infrastructure.

What we are looking for:

• A Data Guru who enjoys championing the use of data to realise strategic insights
• A gun who enjoys leading data workstreams end to end
• Someone who takes on a hypothesis driven, data-first approach to attacking any problem

With great progression, career development opportunities and the chance to work with the latest digital technology, a normal day in the role of the Data Development Lead includes:

• Ensuring that applications developed fit the strategic landscape and meet the business objectives
• Producing technical designs that describe the event streaming architecture
• Extracting valuable insights from highly complex data sets
• Working with other members across the data team to find new opportunities for streaming solutions
• Working with an agile methodology to ensure planning, transparency and feedback of execution
• Champion the use of data to realise strategic insights
• Assisting with driving cross-business unit initiatives that are efficient and effective

But there is a catch. To be in the running for this great role, you should have:

• A relevant tertiary degree or qualification
• Strong experience as a systems developer with a data focus
• Proven experience implementing Kafka or equivalent
• Solid experience with EMR or equivalent, Lambda functions and SQS
• Solid experience with Python, Javascript and NodeJS
• Strong experience leading developers and ability to develop key relationships
• You like hanging out with and being part of a team
