We’re on the lookout for an experienced Subcontract Manager to lead subcontractor engagement and performance for a key government contract in NSW. Reporting to the HNSW Account Director, this role is pivotal in sourcing, onboarding, supporting, and developing a high-performing subcontractor network—ensuring exceptional delivery and operational excellence across the board.

Your Impact

As a key member of the team, you’ll champion continuous improvement and act as a trusted partner to our subcontractors. This service-based role focuses on supporting and professionalising small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) while collaborating with operations and the Strategic Procurement Group to drive value and results across the contract.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Sourcing & Procurement: Identify trade/resource gaps by region, assess current coverage, and proactively engage new subcontractors in line with strategy.
  • Onboarding: Lead the end-to-end sign-up process including contract explanation, document collection, and timely activation within KPIs.
  • Training & Induction: Deliver standard and advanced induction programs (via Avetta or other platforms), supporting onboarding and long-term success.
  • Ongoing Support: Be the go-to person for subcontractor queries and provide dedicated support to help them thrive.
  • Performance & Compliance: Conduct regular business audits, maintain scorecards, and make recommendations for improvements or changes.
  • Strategic Planning: Support procurement initiatives, resource forecasting, and performance analysis to improve service delivery and profitability.

What You Bring

  • Proven experience in subcontractor management, procurement, or trade operations
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, especially with SMEs and internal stakeholders
  • High attention to detail and sound reporting capabilities
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously and drive outcomes
  • Passion for supplier development and building sustainable partnerships
