Purpose of the Role
BGIS is seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee key projects within a high-profile heritage environment. Reporting directly to the Account Manager, you will collaborate with Client Building Management Team and BGIS colleagues to deliver projects and work orders on time, on budget, and to high-quality standards, ensuring operational and regulatory compliance.
The ideal candidate is technically skilled, highly organised, and comfortable managing sensitive assets in a public-facing environment. You are calm under pressure, proactive, and excel at stakeholder engagement and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead project and work order delivery from scope definition to handover, ensuring all requirements are met.
- Manage project budgets, cost forecasting, invoice processing, and financial reporting.
- Lead and manage project teams and subcontractors, ensuring effective communication and OHS & E compliance.
- Optimise project processes and efficiency, participating in client meetings and contract finalisation.
- Monitor project progress, manage changes, and provide detailed reporting to executive management.
Education, Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Extensive experience in project and capital works management within heritage, museum, gallery, or sensitive environments (all levels encouraged to apply)
- Proven ability to manage contractors, consultants, and suppliers.
- Strong knowledge of QA, OH&S, and environmental management systems.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, MS Project, and project management software.
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills.
Desirable:
- Certificate IV in OHS or equivalent project management experience.
- Diploma/Graduate Diploma or Bachelor’s in Project/Construction/Facilities Management.
- Current Construction Induction (White Card).
- Technical background in mechanical/building systems an advantage.
Workplace Flexibility
This role is based on-site at the client office in Campbell, Canberra, with free on-site parking and close access to public transport. Occasional hybrid flexibility may be considered. 🏛️
