Purpose of the Role
BGIS is seeking a Building Services Engineer to support the ongoing operation of a world-class, multi-purpose venue located on the banks of the Swan River.
Reporting to the Account Manager, you will work collaboratively with a close-knit on-site team to help maintain and enhance a highly technical, high-performance environment. This role offers the opportunity to apply your technical knowledge across a wide range of systems, while continuing to learn and grow in a supportive and team-oriented setting.
The ideal candidate is curious, hands-on, and enjoys working alongside others to solve problems. You bring a strong technical foundation and a willingness to explore systems beyond your core trade, contributing to a positive and inclusive team culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day maintenance and operations across a diverse range of building systems
- Monitor and respond to Building Management System (BMS) and subsystem alerts
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance tasks across mechanical, electrical, and related systems
- Assist with troubleshooting, repairs, and ongoing lifecycle works
- Work collaboratively with on-site trades and subcontractors to achieve shared outcomes
- Contribute to pre-event checks, event-day support, and post-event activities
- Maintain accurate records, work orders, and asset registers
- Promote safe work practices and support compliance with WHS and environmental standards
Education, Experience & Skills
Essential:
- Experience within facilities, building services, or maintenance environments
- Strong technical knowledge across mechanical, electrical, or related systems
- Ability to troubleshoot a wide variety of equipment and systems
- Familiarity with BMS/EMS, LCS systems (e.g. Dynalite or similar)
- Understanding of QA, WHS, and environmental frameworks
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-focused approach
- Current White Card and EWP certification
Desirable:
- Trade or tertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline
- Experience in large-scale venues, commercial, or retail environments
- Exposure to PPP environments
- Interest in sustainability and continuous improvement initiatives
Workplace Flexibility
This role is based full-time on-site at a major Perth venue. Standard hours are Monday to Friday, with occasional event-based work (e.g. AFL, cricket, concerts). Time worked outside standard hours is recognised with time in lieu to support work-life balance.
