About IOPS
Perth City Square is home to BHP Iron Ore’s state-of-the-art Integrated Remote Operations Centre (IROC). Our Control Centre operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week using advanced, real-time technology to enable visibility and control, across the entire Iron Ore supply chain.
As a technology enabled centre of excellence, IROC employees work collaboratively with site on a shift-to-shift basis responding promptly to enhance safety and optimise value across the supply chain.

About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Port Control, you will be part of this exciting journey as BHP’s advanced technology and Autonomous Portfolio continues to grow. As a Supervisor of the Port Control team, you will guide and develop a growing team in a fast past and dynamic environment. You will be responsible for the safe and quality execution of our Port Fixed Plant Control operations from Car Dumping through to Ship loading and will be a key interface and collaborator across multiple site operations, IOPS and technology teams.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Build a culture of trust and care within your team
- Motivate, manage, engage, coach, and develop a high performing team
- Establish strong relationships with site operations, support functions and the broader Integrated Operations teams
- Ensure continuous training and skills development of the team members
- Develop and maintain a succession plan within Port control team
- Establish standards for delivery of the production and continually seek better ways to optimise port control processes
- Ensure safety standards are set up and respected
- Embed the BHP Operating System within the team to sustainably drive improvement through standardised routines and improvement
- Proactively follow up all incidents with appropriate investigation, and implement improvement action plans
About You
We are looking for a people-focused professional who brings experience in fostering a supportive and values-led team culture. Experience in an operations leadership role essential, with a thoughtful, process-focused mindset and a strong commitment to achieving business goals.
You demonstrate the ability to support a team in delivering safe, sustainable productivity, with a passion for coaching, developing others, and fostering a culture where your team can thrive. You are adaptable and able to coach your team to navigate a continuously changing environment to drive positive outcomes. You have highly developed problem-solving skills (Root Cause Analysis) as well as delivering improvement initiatives. Experience in Control Operations/Control Systems, Fixed Plant processing or supply chain logistics will be highly regarded.
In return, you will be joining a forward-thinking team, making your mark as a Supervisor in control of a team with safety as the highest priority. Your exposure to events / investigations, will build on your business knowledge and you will have the opportunity to directly impact BHP’s supply chain. Longer term, this role and the skills gained will offer a variety of paths for internal progression and career development.
