Our Operations - Olympic Dam

One of Australia’s largest mines and a complex minerals processing operation, Olympic Dam, is unique in that we produce Copper, Uranium, Gold and Silver. The local township of Roxby Downs is an active and progressive community offering a variety of modern, well equipped housing, educational, health, sporting, leisure, shopping and cultural facilities.

About the Role

Please note this position is based at Olympic Dam, operating on a 7/7 roster, with residential, FIFO (from Adelaide) or DIDO options available.


We are currently inviting applications for an Operations Technician, Underground – Mine Fixed Plant. In this position you will help minimize the impact to unplanned downtime and also work on planned day-to-day upkeep and maintenance of the materials handling system. This entry level role will consider candidates transferrable skills and attributes to suit this role, allowing the right candidate to demonstrate they would make a great fit for a role like this one.

In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate an overriding commitment to health, safety, environmental responsibility and sustainable development
  • Ensure all safe work systems, procedures and standards are adhered to through frequent inspection of the workplace
  • Promote and consistently follow the standards and procedures designed to enable you to work safely and effectively every day
  • Provide safe operational skills to perform unplanned or breakdown maintenance in accordance to current processes
  • Complete inspections of materials handling systems and belts
  • Assist where required in the permit to work system, including helping update documents relating to specific tasks.Provide continual feedback to the Shift Maintenance Supervisors on job progress

About You

  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm's way
  • Self-motivated, driven and focused on achieving high performance targets whilst always prioritizing safety first
  • Sound mechanical aptitude will be highly beneficial
  • FL and Bobcat, riggers, dogging and crane ticket advantageous, but not essential
  • Comfortable working in an underground mining environment and around heavy machinery
  • Ability to communicate across multiple levels and disciplines
  • Level 2 Authorised Isolator, Job and Area Owner qualified highly beneficial
