About the role
Reporting to the CHPP Manager & SSE, the Superintendent Processing will lead a high performing team focused on continuous improvement in the operation and optimisation of the production plant equipment and infrastructure, processes and standards. Ensuring compliance with operating standards, procedures, work instructions and defined processes will deliver optimal production outcomes.
This exciting opportunity is being offered at our Poitrel Mine Site (Red Mountain CHPP) located near Moranbah, Central Queensland. Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
- Leadership, management and mentoring of the processing team, laboratory and other personnel onsite
- Provision of technical guidance to the onsite operations and maintenance teams
- Building cross-functional relationships with the mining operations, logistics, coal quality, geology, continuous improvement and maintenance functions to support the delivery of production plans and improvements
- Provide input into business plans, budgets and Time Usage Model (TUM) to ensure effective utilisation of the site’s assets and ensure CHPP input into all stages of the strategic planning processes for the site
- Overall accountability for quality control through the CHPP including preparation of production schedules, day-to-day optimisation and deviation management.
- Leading the analysis and reporting of production data to make informed improvement decisions on how to improve coal recovery and production volume
- Work in conjunction with multiple teams to develop and maintain the operating procedures, plans, systems, processes and culture needed to achieve safe and optimal production performance.
- Identifying and delivering projects to optimise CHPP operation in terms of Safety, Culture and Productivity.
- Coordinate the utilisation of assets to maximise return, including application of new procedures, processes and technology where appropriate
- Assist in preparation, monitoring and control of budget and forecasts and highlight any variance to management along with remedial actions as required.
About you
You will possess a tertiary qualification in Process or Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or equivalent with extensive experience (6+ years) in plant operations or similar. Other attributes will be highly regarded:
- 3+ years’ supervisory experience in a similar role
- A proven track record of and commitment to safety leadership and risk management processes
- Solid understanding of change management , continuous improvement and strong problem solving capability
- Able to prioritise work by determining the highest value gain for the business
- Familiarity with production systems such as 1SAP, Historian applications, AMPLA & SCADA PLC, would be advantageous, but not essential;
- A good working knowledge of excel and other office programs
