BHP has recently made the decision to implement Autonomous Haulage at South Flank. As a result of this transformation, new roles to support Autonomous Haulage Systems have been created. This includes the creation of Specialist OT Operations TROC positions.

Location
Whilst the Specialist OT Operations TROC positions will ultimately be Perth based, for the execution of the Autonomous Haulage deployment, these roles are required to be temporarily based on site initially (for a period of approximately 18-24 months).
For the site-based execution phase, you will enjoy a family friendly 8/6, 7/7 FIFO roster. After this, the position will work on our Lifestyle Roster based in Perth, working a pattern of days and nights, with a block of days off at the end of each swing.
Employees on this Lifestyle roster enjoy two full weekends off out of four and will align to the following shift rotation: 2D2N5X, 2D3N4X, 3D2N5X. Shifts are 12.5 hours including handover and you will benefit from additional shift allowances, as part of your remuneration package.
As an added benefit, those on a Lifestyle Roster will also enjoy an additional week of annual leave per year.
About the Role
The Specialist OT Operations roles are members of the Technology Remote Operations Centre (TROC), located and embedded within the mine control locations. The roles are first responders within the Autonomous Mine Control to support the needs of the Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) to ensure high equipment availability.
The Specialist OT Operations TROC will perform break-in and technology incident management on the autonomous system working collaboratively with their Technology, TROC and Maintenance colleagues, where site-based technology and base machine outcomes connect.
In this role you would work closely with the Controller AHS to provide 24/7 support maintenance, fault finding improvements, updates, and testing on the Autonomous Haulage system, including the use of monitoring tools and specialised diagnostic equipment.
Reporting to the Supervisor OT Operations, your duties will include:
- Proactive monitoring and event management to maintain critical production systems availability
- Rapidly provide break-fix solutions to restore production system availability following outages
- Perform maintenance activities that reduce failure rates and downtime of equipment
- Safe execution of planned maintenance and change activities
- Engaging with site operation stakeholders during events, incidents, and changes
- Working collaboratively in the Technology Remote Operations Centre (TROC), with Technology Site Operations and Maintenance teams
About You
Candidates should be self-motivated and effective communicators with Technology, Operational or Maintenance experience. Desirable skills and experience include:
- Operational experience within an industrial or mining environment will be well regarded
- Experience working with or troubleshooting operational technologies, including any of the below:
- Fleet Management Systems (e.g., CAT Minestar and Modular Mining suite of products)
- Autonomous Haulage Systems (e.g., MineStar Command and Terrain, Komatsu FrontRunner)
- Industrial Wireless networks (e.g., Cisco, Rajant's BreadCrumb, TropOs, LTE)
- Routing and Switching (e.g., Cisco, Alcatael Lucent, Juniper)
- Ability to build strong working relationships and work with others for a collective outcome
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work with a range of cross functional stakeholders
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong time management skills
