About The Role
BHP is currently looking to grow our team of passionate maintenance and operations support workforce including Service Technicians, Service Support and Trade Assistants.
As the Service Technician, your role will be to carry out general maintenance and servicing of mobile and fixed plant equipment. This includes routine fuel and lubrication top ups on our Surface Mobile Equipment (SME), lubrication on our fixed plant equipment and machines in our maintenance workshops. You will be required to operate Light Vehicle (LV) class and SME class service truck vehicles.
Roles are currently available across a number of our Iron Ore and Nickel assets in various locations within Western Australia including Mt Keith, Leinster, Newman and Port Hedland. These roles are offered on different rosters across all our sites:
Fly-in-Fly-Out (FIFO)
- 8/6 days only
- 8/6:7/7 or 7/7 rotating days/nights
- 2/1 days/nights
Residential
- Lifestyle roster at Newman or Port Hedland (relocation and housing assistance provided)

About You
You will believe in the value of what supporting the maintenance and operations can bring to an organisation. To be considered for these positions it is not considered essential to have prior experience within the mining industry.
We are eager to engage with people who have a genuine interest in the mining industry. We would still love to hear from those who come from a range of backgrounds such as Construction, Manufacturing, Aviation, Civil, Defence, Marine, Oil & Gas and Agriculture– just to name a few!

The ideal candidate will have the following:
- C Class Drivers Licence is essential (HR Drivers Licence is preferred)
- Experience with re-fueling and servicing of Mobile Equipment is advantageous
- High Risk Work Licence – Forklift, Elevated Work Platform is desirable
- Confined Space and Working Safely at Heights Tickets is desirable
- Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way
- Be focused on working collaboratively within your team to achieve results
- Able to follow relevant processes and procedures within your department
- Be a team player who is self-motivated
- Willing to learn and contribute to promoting a supportive and positive team culture
