About the Role
You will evolve and lead delivery of BHP’s Rail Training Strategy for its world class Rail Academy initiative on track to deliver the future pipeline of talent for BHP Heavy Haul Rail. Your leadership of a dedicated team of training professionals across all rail disciplines facilitating placement and learning progression for rail operators and maintainers, creating new to industry pathways for regional communities and career development opportunities for BHP employees.
You will continuously improve compliance training standards, procedures, systems, and processes to achieve optimal training and performance outcomes.
Previous success in leading large training and capability development teams and building a positive workplace culture will be of paramount importance for this role and the success of the people and programs you will be supporting.
This role is based at Pt Hedland and will be offered as site-based residential or 5/2 4/3 FIFO roster with options for flexibility.
In this role you will:
- Engage with Rail Senior Leadership Team to develop and deliver an enterprise training solution
- Deliver the Rail Training Strategy (5YP) and shape the future of Training across Rail
- Lead the day-to-day operational aspects of the Rail Academy and accelerated Driver Training Program (Cert IV Train Driving TLI42615)
- Support the ongoing integration of new to industry drivers into the broader world of ‘train driving’
- Establish, monitor and maintain quality training and assessment practices and Continuous Improvement initiatives
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Adult and Vocational Education/Training and/or Industry relevant HSE/HR/Technical Tertiary Qualifications
- Mining Industry and/or Rail Operations experience
- Extensive experience in leading training and capability development teams, at this level
- Comprehensive understanding of WHS and Rail Safety National Law and how these apply to training and site contexts
- Complex problem solving ability
- Sound understanding of adult learning principles and methodologies and the ability to deliver innovative training solutions
