About the Role
Ensure the safe and efficient conduct of Aerodrome Operations in accordance with the BHP Aviation Management Procedure. These roles are FIFO from Perth and based across multiple sites in the Pilbara region on an 8/6 or 4/3 roster which will be discussed at interview
Roles/responsibilities:
- Conduct daily and non-routine aerodrome serviceability inspections and ARO duties as per CASA regulations
- Supervising aerodrome remedial works (Works Safety Officer Duties)
- Transmission of Notice to Airmen (NOTAM)
- Flight line operations - Aircraft marshalling, Load/Unload Baggage & Freight, Passenger Escort, Ground Handling
- Delivery of Airport Terminal Operations - Passenger check-in & Freight Processing. Radio calls and completion of flight manifests, load sheets, operational liaison with aircraft crew and staff from both mine and aircraft operations
- Assist with Aircraft Scheduling (shutdowns, adhoc charters)
- Understanding and management of the BHP Material Risk for Aviation by active Field Leadership through CCO’s, PTC’s & TTT’s
- Actively monitor your workplace on a regular basis to determine presence of hazards and take appropriate action to rectify any hazards found.
- Airport Emergency Response – participate in aerodrome emergency response training with a focus on aviation emergency response
- Aerodrome Maintenance – Line Marking, Slashing/Mowing/Brush Cutting/Pruning, RWY & Apron Sweeping, Weed Management, minor fence repairs, etc.
- Daily & Weekly GSE Checks/Minor MaintenanceDaily & Weekly Housekeeping duties (Terminal, Offices, storerooms, containers, inventory checks, Carpark, etc.
About You
Qualifications:
- Aerodrome Reporting Officer / Works Safety Officer (ARO/WSO) Qualification
- Dangerous Goods Awareness Certificate
- Aeronautical Radio Operator Certificate (AROC)
- Airline Ground Handling Experience (Virgin, Alliance, Skippers, Cobham, etc)
- Airline Trainer Credentials (desirable but not essential)
- Air Freight Processing experience
- Manual driver’s license
- Aircraft Refuelling experience (desirable but not essential)
- Attributes:
- Effective communications skills (verbal & written)
- High consideration of H&S programs, policies, and procedures
- Effective hazard identification and mitigation
- Efficient work prioritisation and planning
- Effective resource coordination
- Investigation in all incidents and events
