About the Role
The role of Principal Communications is responsible for developing clear and compelling content to be used across all channels to maximise and promote BHP’s corporate narrative and strategic themes and positions. This role can be located Adelaide, Perth or Brisbane.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Support rollout of BHP’s corporate narrative and key company issues, such as climate change, through a range of channels to internal and external audiences
- Support the execution of the ELT engagement program by enrolling the leadership of BHP and the broader Corporate Affairs teams to deliver engagements enhancing BHP’s reputation against narrative themes.
- Work closely with the senior leadership teams to develop content for key global audiences
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key internal stakeholders at all levels, and work closely with local teams to achieve measurable results
- Apply expert understanding of key internal and external audience behaviours through research and data analysis to written content.
- Have a strong understanding of various channel strategies and work across the team to maximise content distribution.
- Support the Crisis Communications Management Team in the instance of a crisis.
About You
We are seeking a highly motivated senior communications professional with significant relevant experience in brand management, content management systems and speech writing will be highly regarded.
In addition, we are seeking specific attributes such as:
- Strong understanding of various channel strategies (digital, media, shareholder employee) to maximise content distribution.
- Extensive stakeholder management and communication planning skills with the ability to collaborate and provide counsel to senior stakeholders.
- Exceptional writing and editorial skills.
- Experience defining, developing and leading communications strategy for internal and external audiences.
- Ability to collaborate and lead informal teams from across the company.
- Strong attention to detail understanding of research and data used to develop insights to guide communication approach
