About the Role
Reporting to the Vice President, Ethics and Investigations, the purpose of the Head of the Investigations and Response role is to lead the global Investigations team to conduct high quality, independent investigations and provide oversight of BHP’s response to the most serious types of unethical conduct, including executive misconduct. This role will also identify, develop and implement best practice responses to all categories of misconduct, in line with company values and changing societal expectations.
Key component of this role will be support the design, implementation and governance of BHP’s Investigations Framework (including methodologies and tools). The role will also drive positive change across the business globally through the response and investigations process to meet ethical standards, reduce risk and improve organisational culture.
About You
You will have a deep understanding of overall investigations and response strategies and are able to translate that into a clear view of the people, capabilities and tools required to deliver this strategy. You will have extensive experience drawing on developments in international best practice, regulatory guidance and learnings from investigations to drive continuous enhancement of Investigation frameworks and our response to unethical conduct.
You have advanced leadership and interpersonal skills which are essential to building constructive relationships and credibility with diverse stakeholders and cross functional teams in a global context.
Additional attributes you have include:
- Demonstrated experience managing external vendors (legal firms, external investigators) and ensure the right blend of internal & external support for investigations is implemented.
- Extensive experience setting frameworks and identifying tools needed to help drive an environment of learning.
- Working experience supporting the delivery of complex investigation outcomes, including engagement, coaching and influencing of senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated capability maintaining and implementing grievance mechanism processes.
- Experience delivering whistleblower frameworks in line with regulatory expectations globally.
- Demonstrated experience developing Investigation Framework capability materials, to ensure successful onboarding of investigations team members and continued professional development for the team.
- Sound capability development to support stakeholders in Compliance, Legal and HR, and the Business.
- Ensuring that the team is built and maintained with appropriate resources to manage the volume and type of work, and that team members receive appropriate, proactive support and training specific to their work hazards.
