About the Role
Reporting to the Manager Control Operations, this is a role with a significant remit to continue the build of a high performing Mine Control team supporting Haulage across the four conventionally operated BMA sites in Central Queensland.
This role will see you provide leadership and functional expertise in a broad range of areas and build a cohesive group through deep, foundational team development.
This role is based in Brisbane.
In this role you will:
- Ensuring an overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development.
- Actively leading and participating in field leadership, safety meetings and managing key safety investigations relevant to the team
- Build business partnerships and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business, with a focus on performance and shared outcomes across the centralised control room and our site partners.
- Positively shape culture in alignment with the BHP Charter Values
- Providing leadership to Control Operations Mine team and empowering them to support performance of the Haulage System
- Focus on supporting a fully integrated supply chain through connections with the wider IROC+ including Data & Reporting, Operational Performance, Logistics, Systems & Improvement, Integrated Planning, Fixed Plant, FMS, Process Engineering and Autonomous Haulage teams
- Interfacing regularly with Mine-based Operations and aligned departments to optimise safety, maintenance and production efficiencies
- Monitor operating costs ensuring that spend is controlled to the allocated budget
- Assisting with the development of the two year budget and 5 year plan
- Help identify and then lead process improvement initiatives to support customer group by leveraging the BHP Operating System, leveraging and connecting with Functional and Site partners
- Taking responsibility for identifying and resolving systemic issues, and for assessing the potential impact on people, production and equipment
About You
- Foundational leadership experience and engagement of teams that support high quality and engaged delivery including a strong culture of care for your team
- Exposure to cost management strategies with financial and commercial acumen
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to support cross-departmental engagement and effective communication throughout multiple levels of the business
- The ability to prioritise and effectively manage multiple deliverables across various stakeholder groups
- An understanding and practice continuous improvement lean principles where you can influence across remote operations
- Ability to identify and implement innovation and improvement in Mine Control
- Previous mining operations experience
- Understanding of Haulage Systems is advantageous
- Experience or familiarity with mine control rooms or control centres
