About the Role
BHP Iron Ore owns, operates and maintains a significant amount of potable water, surplus water and waste water infrastructure. This includes RO and NF based potable infrastructure and STP to service FIFO camps and mine operations. This infrastructure is growing and changing with our business. Working with this team will require the operator to operate Water Treatment systems in remote locations.
Ensuring our infrastructure is operated, maintained and governed to meet DoH, and BHPB environmental management plans and requirements is an important organisational goal.
The Water Services Technician will be responsible for operating and monitoring drinking water, process water and wastewater treatment processes to ensure safe operations and compliance with health and environmental conditions. Completing routine plant inspections and reporting of faults and facilitating maintenance activities are typical daily duties.
Location
This role will FIFO based at Mining Area C, moving around the Pilbara to support Spinifex, Redmont and Port Hedland - The roster is 7 days on 7 days off.
About You
Qualifications:
- Certificate 3 or higher in Water Operations looked upon favourably.
- Valid Australian C class drivers license
Skills:
- A proven track record of safety management
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work closely in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability working with Reverse Osmosis, Nano Filtration Water Treatment and Chlorine Gas disinfection.
- Wastewater processing and control of aerobic/anoxic biological processes highly desirable
- Field laboratory testing and use of analytical instruments
Experience:
- Adhering to safety procedures, systems, policies and tools
- Working in a team environment
- Plant operations experience
- 3 years industry experience in Drinking Water and Waste Water Treatment processes
