About BMA

BMA is Australia’s largest coal producer and supplier of seaborne metallurgical coal. BMA is owned 50:50 by BHP and Mitsubishi Development. BMA operates seven Bowen Basin mines (Goonyella Riverside, Broadmeadow, Daunia, Peak Downs, Saraji, Blackwater and Caval Ridge) and owns and operates the Hay Point Coal Terminal near Mackay.

About the Role

As the Manager Asset Engineering, you will be responsible for leading a team of technical professionals who oversee the Governance and Technical Stewardship for the BMA sites.

You will also play a key role in coaching and mentoring your team of high performers to achieve a positive result.

This is a Brisbane based role with travel to site as required.

In this role you will also be responsible for:

  • Continuing to build, develop and transform the engineering capability across the BMA Asset
  • Managing your team to apply the BHP Charter, Our Requirements, Code of Conduct, relevant statutory obligations and the BMA Internal Standard
  • Manage BMA’s Blueprint, Engineering Standards and Technical Specifications, and govern the Management of Change (MOC) process
  • Governing the asset integrity of critical equipment and infrastructure across all BMA Operations
  • Provide technical engineering expertise to BMA, and partner with strategic stakeholders to ensure safety and stability of each Operation
  • Coaching and developing collaboration and cooperation in your teams to identify and deliver innovative value adding solutions
  • Developing a high performing and cohesive team of engineering subject matter experts, along with mentoring talent for succession

About You

As part of the Management Team within BMA the following attributes will be key to your success:

Demonstrated capabilities in engaging within a complex organisation at all levels and across Functions

  • Experience in a senior Engineering leadership role
  • Proven experience with your engagement with key stakeholders at all levels of the business and juggling multiple priorities
  • As a leader in previous positions you will use your leadership skills to coach and mentor your team, drive best practice and truly make a difference to departmental performance
  • Demonstrated technical and commercial acumen with advanced problem-solving skills
  • Highly influential with strong engagement skills to generate ideas and lateral solutions
  • Leading by example; hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in “Safety Leadership”
  • Tertiary and/or Post Graduate qualification in Engineering (or related discipline) or equivalent industry and/or organisational experience
  • Chartered Professional Engineer or RPEQ status is highly desirable
