Location
With this role you will be based residentially in Newman. You will be working across Newman Operations West. Newman Operations West is more than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide, making it the biggest single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world. Newman Operations East is made up of several deposits and contributes to the overall ore production of the Newman Joint Venture hub.
For residential opportunities you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies. Relocation assistance provided.
About the Role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and proactive candidate to join our Fixed Plant Production Processing team as the Processing Shift Supervisor at Whaleback Mine within Newman Operations. Reporting directly to the operational PP Processing Superintendent, you will be enabled to engage your team and a group of technical experts to not only problem solve but drive continuous improvement to keep adapting to ever-changing conditions. This position is central in leading a high performing team toward optimising throughput by collaborating with internal processing, mining, maintenance and coordination teams and executes plans to ensure that the Iron Ore Handling Plant, achieves safety, production, efficiency and quality targets. In this role you will:

Foster our positive culture within your team to maintain a focus on identifying opportunities and driving continuous improvement through reduced costs through maximising production, minimising down time and eliminating waste;

Build partnerships and maintain strong working relationships with customers and key stakeholders across the business;

Support and encourage strong levels of engagement to drive our site safety and performance;

Coach and mentor your team while supporting their development and personal achievements;

Safely and proactively execute short term production plans to maximise equipment utilisation achieve quality targets;

Work closely with Process Engineers, Coordinators and Maintenance to ensure optimised, efficient product flow;

Support the operation of both dry and wet plant including drums, cyclones and spirals;

Monitor and report against daily plan and escalate unplanned and non-routine activity or performance to the Superintendent.
About You
As the ideal candidate you can demonstrate experience in processing operations, having had experience in leading and/or enabling teams. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will support you in maintaining cross-departmental engagement and effective communication throughout multiple levels of the business from mining to port. Your passion for inclusion and collaboration will help drive and support an already positive workplace environment. You are a strong people leader who can engage with people from various backgrounds and experience levels and enables their teams to challenge the norms, to unlock potential to grow. To liaise with a variety of stakeholders, it is important you are a confident verbal and written communicator. In addition, your strong problem solving skills, as well as a high level of motivation and drive will assure you are able to support your team in identifying and delivering projects to optimise our operation in terms of Safety, Volume, Cost and Culture.
