About the Role
Mining Area C (MAC), part of Western Australia Iron Ore (WAIO), is one of nine iron ore mines and hubs in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Mining Area C is located 120 kilometres north-west of Newman in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. It consists of eight open-cut mines, three ore handling plants and one train load-out facility.
The MAC Drill & Blast team runs a fleet of autonomous PV271 drill rigs, D65 drill rigs, MPU’s, and the D&B support equipment to enable us to blast nearly 150Mt of rock throughout the year using electronic firing methods.
As the Drill & Blast Supervisor, you will be leading a team of drill & blast personnel as well as planning the forthcoming drill & blast activities. This position plays a pivotal key role in ensuring MACs daily and weekly production targets are met and the statutory and company audit schedules are maintained. This role will also have a heavy emphasis on ensuring all working standards are compliant and take a proactive stance on continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
The ideal candidate will have the ability to lead positive change and support continued development. As a leader you will have an absolute commitment to working safely, complying with all site safety standards, mine working procedures and ensure a safe and environmentally healthy workplace. This includes leading and coaching operators in best operating practice, ensuring safety and working standards are maintained to such an extent that work may be stopped if standards are not met.
As the Supervisor, you will have a proven track record in leading a Drilling & Blast team on a large-scale open cut mining operation. By utilising your excellent relationship building and influencing skills alongside your strong technical expertise across blasting and drilling activities, you will be able to coach and mentor your team to support a strong safety culture whilst achieving high performance.
