About the Role

This role provides senior leadership to the Engineering and Quality teams supporting BHP Minerals Australia's Major and Asset Projects (MAP) portfolio. Using your technical expertise and leadership experience you will be accountable to enable regional teams to develop and execute Engineering and Quality plans, ensuring technical support is provided across the portfolio to deliver optimal business outcomes. This will be achieved through the effective engagement of your team and stakeholders within a functional model and the implementation of strategic initiatives to provide the necessary systems, processes and organizational capabilities to safely and efficiently deliver the portfolio.

Key Accountabilities are:

  • Nurturing a culture of care and accountability within and across teams, developing our people and ensuring we partner effectively with our stakeholders to deliver the agreed project outcomes.
  • Focusing on individual and team development and performance to ensure that opportunities are identified and people are supported to work as a high performing team.
  • Developing and supporting the execution of best practices, processes, tools, standards, and templates to enable the effective planning, delivery and management of Engineering and Quality across MAP; developing and verifying the effectiveness of functional strategies and plans; and establishing a continuous improvement mindset and ensuring together we achieve the project objectives across the portfolio.
  • Identifying and assessing risks to enable informed decisions to deliver safe and productive performance outcomes.
  • Maintaining a wide network of impact through collaboratively integrating functions, operations, ESPs and global regions to solve complex challenges and drive strong functional/asset integration across BHP leading to optimized business outcomes.

About You

Essential experience to be successful in this role is:

  • Passion for guiding, developing and influencing teams and individual team member and a demonstrated ability to lead high performance teams.
  • Significant previous experience with tertiary qualifications in Engineering with relevant experience in Engineering/Quality/Project Management
