About the Role

Reporting to the Field Maintenance Supervisor with the Mobile Maintenance team some of your responsibilities may include:

  • Conduct preventative maintenance, repairs, and fault finding on Mobile fleet consisting of Liebherr 996 & 9400 excavators, Epiroc PV271 & D65 Surface Drill Rigs to a high standard

  • Following specific maintenance programs and carrying out inspections on mobile fleet as required

  • Completing inspections and repairs as per the maintenance strategies on the mobile fleet

  • Identifying and rectifying faults during inspections

  • Scoping and creating 1SAP notifications for preventative work the mobile fleet

  • Working from OEM schematic drawings, manuals, and computer programs

  • Assist the Maintenance Supervisor with rescheduling of work, organising and coordinating resources, scoping of work and determining priorities

  • Undertake training and provide support and coaching to work mates

  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and assist in the implementing of the new initiatives in a constructive way

  • Take personal responsibility for helping the team achieve expected results by doing what is required and taking timely actions within the scope of competence without being supervised.

About You

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following:

  • Australian Recognised Automotive Electrician Trade Qualification (Heavy Industry)

  • Current Automotive Refrigerant Handling Licence

  • Strong auto electrical maintenance competency with sound diagnostic abilities

  • Experience working with Diggers and Drill advantageous

  • Cummins engine experience advantageous

  • Experience withing Mining industry preferred, however agricultural or heavy industry will be considered

  • Ability to work of schematic drawings

  • Computer Literacy SAP CAT SIS exposure advantageous

  • Valid Australian C driver's license essential

  • Forklift & High Risk Working Licence advantageous.

You will be based at our Jimblebar mine site in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, on a fly-in fly-out, 8 day on, 6 days off, 7 nights on, 7 nights off roster.   Our FIFO villages have a wide range of facilities and all rooms have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning to help you unwind, relax and sleep well.

We know the more time you can spend at home the better, so in addition to our flights out of Perth, our Jimblebar and Newman operations are now offering those that live in WA's beautiful South West region direct flights from Busselton.

Jimblebar is an open-cut pit iron ore mine located 40 kilometres east of Newman, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia on the traditional lands of the Nyiyaparli people. The rollout of BHP's first fully autonomous haul truck fleet at Jimblebar was completed in 2017 resulting in reduced risk exposure to driving-related hazards, improved productivity and an opportunity for our workforce to gain new skills.

Jimblebar was the very first mine site to become fully autonomous at BHP.
