About the Role

As a member of the Modifications and Operational Projects (MOPs) team you will leverage your project management planning and execution expertise and leadership skills to collaborate with others in order to drive the world class delivery of projects. You will ensure smooth handover of projects from the development phase through to delivery in accordance with the BHP Small Project Management Framework (SPMF), relevant site standards and approved performance targets (HSE, cost, quality, schedule).



To be successful in this role you will have a solid project management understanding and be a collaborative communicator with the ability to manage multiple business priorities simultaneously. Strong interpersonal skills are essential to allow you to influence while also enabling you to build collaborative team relationships, communicate across all business areas at all levels and ensure the highest value outcome for the business.

This position is based in Adelaide with travel to Olympic Dam as required. We can consider this role as full-time or part-time.

In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to safety by actively engaging in the BHP Field Leadership program.
  • Support the management of multiple MOPs projects (each typically A$1M - A$20M) through the design, execution, commissioning and operational readiness phases.
  • Optimise value through the project lifecycle by engaging other MOPs team members to understand, review and ensure all critical elements of each project are effectively planned.
  • Ability to provide specialist multi-discipline engineering support and project management capability to ensure projects can be delivered in accordance with the portfolio and relevant processes, standards and performance targets.
  • Support the application of Project Management processes with a value-add approach to ensure compliance with Site requirements, Our Requirements, the BHP SPMF, any applicable Engineering standards and the Management of Change process.
  • Review front end engineering studies, design and tender packages and planning for successful execution of projects in the MOPs portfolio.
  • Regular evaluation of risks relevant to design and execution phases of projects, with site verification where required.
  • Identify improvement initiatives and drive continuous improvement.
  • Regularly review processes and incorporate project Lessons Learned to embed learnings and aid continual improvement in all phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Contribute in setting and achieving department and personal KPI’s.

About You

  • Tertiary qualified to support the technical support requirements of the role.
  • Proven track record in managing multi-disciplinary complex brownfield engineering projects, specifically in mechanical/process/electical and/or project commissioning.
  • Experience in commercial management, contract tendering, assessment and engagement, including development of detailed scopes of work and bid evaluations, as well as providing input into Contract development.
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members.
  • Engages with others in the department to build influence and trust in support of business outcomes.
  • An effective problem solver and influencer, possessing strong communications skills through all levels of stakeholder engagement.
