About the BHP Operating System
BHP is deploying a global program of work, known as the BHP Operating System (BOS). It is the next step in our continuous improvement journey and a critical part of our transformation that will shape BHP’s future and build a better BHP with a more empowering culture.
The BHP Operating System will fundamentally change how we think and behave at BHP and is founded on three core principles: Serve Our Customer, Pursue Operating Perfection & Empower Our People. It provides the framework to deliver a step change in our safety and productivity performance, putting our employees at the heart of continuous improvement and will empower every employee to continuously improve the way we work.In this role, you will lead the development of tools and content for the BHP Operating System (BOS), with a focus on building and maintaining the tools and artefacts that support the BOS. This position will be based in Perth with the focus on being a Lean Specialist working with the BOS deployment teams supporting the Perth Repair Centre and Training Centre. Reporting to the Manager, Content and Delivery, you will be responsible for the following:
- Role modelling the desired way of working to demonstrate to the business how they can live the critical behaviours that enable the BOS;
- Maintaining and influencing a wide network of business relationships and advocate the BOS;
- Maintain the BOS doctrine, including integrating changes and updates as the BOS matures;
- Develop and maintain the BOS tools in line with the tool development strategy, including building the supporting artefacts;
- Research world-class manufacturing tools to leverage existing best practice content when developing BOS tools;
- Work with Change and Integration and the Technology Business Partner (BP) to develop or leverage digital products that support the BOS tools, where necessary;
- Work with Change and Integration to understand and plan how the BOS tools will integrate into existing business processes and systems;
- Ensure that any modifications to the digital products supporting BOS tools are carried through to other tool artefacts;
- Develop a process to redeploy updated tools and supporting artefacts to sites;
- Ensure that feedback from users in the business is collated and incorporated to ensure a single source of best-practice BOS tools and artefacts;
- Coordinate with the HR BP to provide thought leadership into the BOS tool training content; and
- Coordinate with the HR BP to provide feedback and updates to training material.
There will be a requirement for travel in this role.To be successful in the role, you will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Experience in a business environment ideally within the resources or manufacturing industry, particularly in an operational environment;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to clearly tailor complex information into an easy-to-understand format;
- Proven experience or implementing world-class manufacturing tools and approaches - be an SME in LEAN principals;
- Knowledge of world-class manufacturing tools and approaches;
- Knowledge of system and process integration and leading digital solutions to deliver world-class manufacturing tools;
- Ability to lead by example and paint a compelling vision of future state;
- Dedicated to direct coaching and feedback, relationship building and facilitation;
- Confident and willing to learn;
- Passionate about improvement; and
- Tertiary qualifications are highly desirable.
