About the Role

The role will be based at our Western Australia Iron Ore site in the Pilbara, on an 8/6 rotating roster, fly in-fly out from Perth.

Your primary duties will include but not limited to the following:

  • Conduct comprehensive site surveys utilising advanced surveying techniques and equipment to support Tamping Operations across the rail network.
  • Develop, finalise, and document scheme designs that facilitate the effective execution of Tamping Operations, ensuring alignment with engineering standards and operational requirements.
  • Prepare and submit detailed Tamping Notifications in a timely manner, ensuring precise data entry and adherence to protocols for the safe execution of on-site operations.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of desktop-based software applications and enterprise systems for the efficient generation of notifications and the closure of work orders.
  • Perform rigorous inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with relevant engineering specifications, regulatory standards, and Tamping Quality Assurance protocols.
  • Review, analyse, and systematically archive Tamping logs and related documentation utilized throughout the rail network to maintain comprehensive records.
  • Analyse and interpret technical data, regulatory frameworks, and codes of practice to ensure the safe execution of all operational activities and compliance with industry standards.
  • Prepare preliminary track designs and specifications, conduct routine calculations, and plot preliminary data for technical interpretation and engineering analysis.
  • Collect and analyse data utilizing advanced surveying instruments and photogrammetric equipment to ensure accurate assessments of site conditions.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development initiatives, providing mentorship and support to colleagues within areas of expertise to enhance team competency on survey techniques and design.
  • Collaborate with the Supervisor in the strategic planning and organization of department-based survey activities, ensuring efficient resource allocation and project execution.
  • Identify, evaluate, and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement in operational processes, supporting the constructive implementation of innovative initiatives.

About You

To be considered for the opportunity you will have the following:

  • Railway specific survey experience
  • Cross over specific survey experience
  • Experience of scheme design works
  • Minimum safety qualification of Look Out
  • Minimum track certification – Cert 3
