About the role:

We have an exciting opportunity to work at Box Hill Institute as our Student Counsellor. This is a full-time, ongoing opportunity based at our Box Hill Campus. This position reports directly to the Senior Counsellor, and sits within the Student Life area of the Student Experience division.

What you'll do:

  • Provide a range of advice and counselling services to students of BHI to facilitate successful learning outcomes and enrich their personal and social wellbeing
  • Contribute to delivery of counselling support to students via evidence-based assessments and interventions
  • Enhance the wellbeing and educational success of students through implementation of programs, events and associated activities
  • Contribute to the effective operation of the Student Life team

About you:

  • Proven knowledge of and experience in ensuring compliance with relevant statutory requirements and professional standards relevant to the counselling profession.
  • Listens to, and acknowledges that the concerns of others have been heard
  • Seeks all relevant information for problem-solving
  • Listens to clients and actively seeks to meet client needs
  • Victorian Working with Children Check clearance
  • National Police Check clearance

Qualifications and experience:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology or Social Work
  • Registration with AHPRA to practice as a Psychologist, or eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
  • Demonstrated counselling experience and crisis intervention skills
  • High level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated experience in preparing high quality, accurate correspondence and reports to stakeholders
  • Perseveres to achieve goals in the face of obstacles.
  • Proficiency in all MS Office applications for a range of tasks including but not limited to, generating letters, reports and database management
