Inclusion and Diversity

We are committed to building a safe and supportive environment for all employees and students, regardless of age, disability, race, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, caring responsibilities or cultural background. Over 50% of our people managers identify as women, and over 56% of our Executive Leadership Team do so as well.

Through our recent employee engagement survey, our diversity data tells a story of an engaged and inclusive workforce, 68% of responding employees are over the age of 35 years, 35% are working part time, and 74% are participating in other flexible work practices, delivering work in a way which compliments their work life balance and contributes to the success at Box Hill Institute.

Our cultural diversity is supported through an annual Inclusion and Connection program, embracing the cultural experiences of our employees, 39% who were born overseas and now call Box Hill Institute and Australia home. Our employees are committed to making a positive influence through providing quality education, with 41% of responding employees being with us for over five years. This enables us to create an environment which is welcoming and inclusive while delivering our strategies and influencing through education delivery.

We are a proud supporter of LGBTQI+ within our community and beyond. We participate in the annual MidSumma PRIDE march alongside our students, and we are doing our part to raise awareness for other important causes that support our commitment in providing an environment where ‘we all belong’.

Day to day we undertake activities which support our people through connection and growth. We offer a variety of professional development opportunities and opportunities to contribute and connect. We are a proud supporter and collaborator of the Empowered Women in Trades events, and in 2021, we were named Inclusive Training Provider of the Year at the Victorian Training Awards.
