An exciting opportunity to join Box Hill Institute as a Casual Diploma of Sport/Diploma of Leadership and Management Teacher in partnership with Hawthorn College of Sport!
In 2024, Box Hill Institute successfully partnered with Hawthorn College of Sport to provide industry led qualifications that focuses on a career in sport, fitness, or business. Due to growth within the program, we are looking for casual Teachers to join the team.
The Sport Leadership and Management Teacher is one of several positions in the BHI Foundation College. The position reports to the Co-ordinator Hawthorn College of Sport and is responsible for liaising with students, relevant industry groups, community services providers, overseas partners and employees of BHI at all levels.
This position is casual and is based at Hawthorn Football Club's venues including the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), and Dingley. It is also expected that you may be required to work across any campus of the Box Hill Institute as required including City, Box Hill or Lilydale.
What You'll Do
- Deliver dynamic and inclusive teaching across Mental Health Peer Work courses
- Develop and implement quality learning materials and assessments
- Support students to build practical skills and confidence for employment or further study
- Employment pathway opportunities upon completion of the course include; management roles within sporting organisations, event planner, fitness and wellness program developer, sport administrator, sport development manager or coach
- Maintain vocational currency and industry relevance
- Foster a safe, supportive, and positive learning environment
You will need to hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (mandatory), along with relevant industry qualifications and experience.
From 1 January 2026, you can be paid up to$97.31 per hour (Teaching rate) and up to$66.10 per hour (Non-Teaching rate) *
* The successful candidate will receive the appropriate Position Description/be classified at the appropriate Casual Level as set out in the Victorian TAFE Teaching Staff Agreement 2024 (refer below descriptors), upon commencement with BHI.
Level 1.1 Teacher requirement: Gaining an approved Certificate IV from TAE Training Package with no teaching experience
- Level 1.2 - 1.3 Teacher requirement: Certificate IV qualified teacher from TAE Training Package with up to 12months teaching experience (L1.2) or with more than 12 months teaching experience (L1.3)
- Level 2 Teacher requirement: Cert.IV qualified teacher(with at least 12 months teaching exp.) who is gaining AQF5 qualification with OR completed AQF5 qualification with at least 12 months' teaching experience
- Level 3 teacher requirement: Cert.IV or Diploma qualified teacher(with at least 12 months teaching exp.) who is gaining AQF6 qualification; OR completed AQF6 teaching qualification or above with at least 12 months teaching experience
About you:

- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122)
- Relevant qualifications in Sport and or Leadership and Management, including, but not limited to the following areas; Sports Coaching, Sports Science, Sports Psychology, Sport Biomechanics and Technology, Event Management, Leading and managing people, Business Administration and Communications
- Experience working within a related industry
- Strong understanding of adult learning principles and compliance requirements
- Ability to create engaging, student-focused learning experiences
To be considered for this position, you must hold, or be willing to obtain, a Victorian Working with Children Check and National Police Check clearance.
