About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity to work at Box Hill Institute as our Visual Arts Technician. This is a part-time (0.50EFT), fixed-term to July 2026 (parental leave backfill) opportunity based at our CBD Campus. The salary for this position is PACCT 4.1 $66,016 per annum (exclusive of superannuation) and pro rata accordingly. This position reports directly to the Coordinator - Graphics & Fashion, and sits within the Design area of the Faculty of Creative, Business & Technology.
What you'll do:
- Provide technical and logistical support to the relevant areas of the Design department
- Establish and maintain a current stock inventory for all course materials
- Ensure all tools and equipment are in a state of readiness for use by employees and students, including session set up and close down
- Support the teaching and business support employees in their roles through the provision of technical assistance.
- Responsible for the warehousing, monitoring and maintenance of consumables and minor equipment, and provision of technical support to the above teaching areas.
- Liaise with managers, coordinators, teachers and students from these units; suppliers; community groups; art galleries; and employees of BHI at all levels.

Qualifications and experience:
- Relevant technical qualification to AQF level 4 or relevant experience in providing technical support to arts programs
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) is desirable
- A Level 2 First Aid qualification or a willingness to undertake this training.
- Demonstrated experience in warehousing, equipment and facility maintenance, particularly in an education setting.
- Demonstrated ability to provide regular and comprehensive asset and stock control and reporting
- High level of interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with demonstrated experience in preparing high quality, accurate correspondence and reports to stakeholders
