Reporting to the Head of Legal Services & General Counsel, this role is crucial in providing legal support to internal clients across our diverse business as we go through a transformative period including refreshing our retail partners at our International terminal.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Provide accurate, commercially astute, and timely legal advice, focusing on commercial contracts and effective deal finalisation.
- Continuously improve precedents, legal tools, and templates to enhance the efficiency of legal processes.
- Offer reliable support to the senior lawyers in the team and develop internal relationships with clients as a trusted and valued business partner.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Provide legal advice on contract preparation, interpretation, and drafting, including negotiation with external counterparties.
- Be vigilant and alert to potential risks in transactions, new business initiatives, or changes in law.
- Provide legal advice on a variety of lease agreements, including complex commercial, industrial, aviation, and retail leases.
- Offer legal guidance on all property-related issues, including lease disputes and lease options.
- Instruct and manage inputs from external counsel when required.
- Provide timely reporting on material issues and risk exposures, along with proposed solutions to senior legal team members.
- Liaise with external legal advisers on various issues, including cost management, service, advice, and risk and compliance matters.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
- Law degree and admission to practice in QLD as a solicitor.
- Commercial legal experience in private practise or in house.
Preferred:
- Top tier legal firm or high performing In-house legal experience
- Experience in property law, commercial alternative dispute resolution
- Experience in drafting commercial agreements, and in particular, property leasing and agreement for lease transactions, and construction related documents.
