Company Description

Are you ready to be a big part of something big?

At carsales, we’re all about making buying and selling a great experience. For 28 years we’ve been evolving with the new economy to help people choose how they move today and tomorrow.

With a vision to be the global leader in online vehicle marketplaces. We transform how people buy and sell across the globe. We discover new ideas and make them happen. We continue to grow, and we continue to evolve – and we aren’t afraid to make big bets.

When it comes to your career, we want to provide big opportunities to help you make a big impact. But for this to be possible, we strive to feel small. Small enough to quickly change tack, small enough to learn from different departments and small enough to connect authentically with leadership.

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Strategy & Corporate Development Manager, who will play a critical role in shaping the future direction of carsales Australia. Reporting to the Executive General Manager – Strategy and Corporate Development (carsales), you will work closely with the carsales Leadership Team and the broader CAR Group strategy and corporate development team to formulate strategy and identify growth opportunities.

This role blends strategic thinking with commercial execution, spanning organic growth, partnerships and M&A, while also contributing to Group-level strategy and corporate development initiatives where required.

We embrace hybrid working - combining the flexibility of remote work with the energy and connection of in-person collaboration. We champion flexibility and offer a range of policies and leave options to support your wellbeing.

What’s on offer:

  • A place where you can move your career forward, where you’ll be continuously backed to make new ideas happen, and the chance to do work that makes real, significant impact in the world.
  • We’re proud to be recognised as one of Australia’s Best Workplaces™ by Great Place to Work®, a Family Friendly Workplace and a WORK180 endorsed employer for women.
  • The support of a highly engaged, high-performing team including a leadership team that you’ll actually have face time with.
  • 24 weeks paid parental leave for primary caregivers, four weeks paid secondary caregivers leave and paid family & fertility planning leave.

Job Description

What you’ll do

  • Work with the carsales Leadership Team to formulate and refine carsales’ strategy
  • Identify and assess organic growth opportunities across new and existing markets
  • Identify, evaluate and progress strategic partnerships and M&A opportunities
  • Contribute to Group Strategy and Group M&A initiatives where required

What success looks like

  • Clear, well-articulated strategy supporting sustainable growth
  • Strong pipeline of organic, partnership and M&A opportunities
  • Trusted partnership with senior leadership
  • High-quality contribution to Group initiatives

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong stakeholder management and interpersonal skills
  • Strong financial, accounting and numeracy capability
  • Advanced financial modelling skills
  • Clear and confident communication skills
  • Strategic mindset and desire to make a difference
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in top-tier consulting, investment banking or in-house strategy / corporate development
  • Minimum Bachelors’ Degree or postgraduate qualifications in business/finance/accounting highly regarded
  • Technology sector experience highly regarded

Additional Information

A few other things we want to let you know about...
