Our latest opportunity is for an Associate SCADA Engineer to join our long-standing Sydney team, who are experts in Remote Telemetry Units (RTU’s). This is a diverse role, providing project and operational support across Operational Technology environments. Your role will cover the supply, configuration, testing, and deployment of RTU systems used to monitor and control electricity substations. 

Full training and mentoring will be provided by our collaborative and supportive SCADA maintenance/project support team, whilst you build your engineering knowledge through hands-on exposure to technology and on-the-job mentoring. 

We offer flexible work and a hybrid work environment to promote work-life balance. We request a minimum of 3 days per week in our brand-new, purpose-built CGI operational technology facility in Lane Cove, Sydney.  

Your future role and responsibilities:

  • Assist with SCADA/RTU maintenance, repair & support services
  • Assist with SCADA/RTU installation, commissioning, and database configuration
  • PLC/RTU configuration for asset monitoring and control
  • Complete project documentation, reports, and records
  • Perform hands-on systems engineering tasks
  • Provide technical support, troubleshoot, and rectify faults related to SCADA systems
  • Assist with other aspects of CGI’s Operational Technology business which may include equipment repair, assembly, troubleshooting and testing
  • Help identify and generate business opportunities
  • Involved in supply management, deliveries, and invoicing for smaller orders. 

Experience required to be successful in this role:

This is an associate level role and full training and mentoring will be provided. We are looking for SCADA Engineers who have 1+ years’ experience in:

  • The configuration and maintenance of RTUs, PLCs, and SCADA hosts
  • SCADA protocols such as DNP, Modbus, and IEC61850.
  • Technical support and systems administration

Experience/ academic knowledge of the following is highly regarded:

  • Router Hardware/Software, Switch Hardware/Software, Routing Protocols, Firewalls
  • Networking systems and software (LAN and WAN)
  • An understanding of emerging technologies in SCADA and their potential commercial application
  • Ability to programme in ladder, sequence and function blocks
  • Industrial experience in electricity, water and gas industries

  • Excellent Troubleshooting/problem solving
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • A strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Full permanent work rights for Australia.
