What you’ll do

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Cisco APJC Legal team supporting Cisco’s Australia and New Zealand businesses. We are looking for a curious, fun and creative team player, hungry to dive into a wide variety of hands-on work to help drive the business forward.

In this role you will be supporting our ANZ Enterprise and Service Provider businesses, as a trusted partner to the extended Sales team. This is a customer facing role and you will be supporting transactions with some of Australia’s largest telecommunication, enterprise and government organisations.

There will be a range of exciting work that you will be exposed to.

We expect this role to cover:

  • Sales transaction support - including deal structuring and drafting reviewing, revising, and negotiating commercial contracts;
  • Marketing support – including sponsorship and event contracts;
  • General regulatory advice – including data privacy, competition and consumer law;
  • Supporting innovation and country impact initiatives and contracts;
  • General, non-commercial advisory (including internal compliance and training); and
  • Troubled project support (limited).

We’re looking for a lawyer located in Sydney, Australia with an Australian practising certificate with 3 to 6 years of legal experience. The following experience will be valuable, but not essential:

  • Experience with technology contracts, in particular cloud services, software subscription, software licensing and hardware supply.
  • General familiarity with data privacy, competition and consumer law.

We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Inquisitiveness- You will be hungry to learn and understand our corporate strategies, business processes, and product offerings. This will enable you build credibility within the company and tailor your legal advice to be practical and align to the business strategy.
  • Creativity -You will be able to problem-solve legal issues creatively while considering the larger strategic and non-legal issues. You will be open to finding solutions that exist beyond standard fall backs and playbooks. This will enable you work with the business to deliver customer centric solutions to the complex problems that we face.
  • Technical ability- You will draft, analyse, negotiate and communicate in plain English on complex legal issues. You will be trusted to make sound legal judgments to facilitate commercial strategies and nimble business execution. This will help you navigate the constantly evolving world of technology contracts together with the broader team.
  • Collaboration- You will be a trusted advisor to all parts of the company. You will work collaboratively with the business, which will require working closely with the sales, engineering, operations, finance and other legal teams. You will be a valued teammate, willing to pitch in and assist wherever needed. This will enable you to benefit from a breadth of perspectives, a deeper understanding of the business and develop deep and meaningful relationships.
  • Positivity- You will politely and proactively, exhibit a customer-centric and entrepreneurial attitude to push yourself and the company towards excellence. You will have a “can-do” attitude and are strongly biased towards action. This will enable you to actively stake steps towards being your personal best.
