In early 2023, Simona joined CleanCo as Sustainability Manager. “This role marries my passion in sustainability with the opportunity to work for an organisation at the forefront of the energy transition,” she said. “It’s a wonderful chance to embed sustainability into work practices across all facets of the business. “Policy is a massive enabler. My role involves setting the foundation for sustainable practices at CleanCo and ensuring we meet the very high international standards for sustainability. This is a priority not just for CleanCo, but also for our customers. “The integration of sustainability into CleanCo’s strategy, operations and future growth is key. Being involved in shaping and fostering what this looks like for the business is really important and interesting work to be involved in,” she said. “CleanCo is a dynamic, fast-paced organisation and there is a great deal of curiosity among staff – that’s one of the organisational values I see at play every day. Learning and growth are also valued, so there are lots of opportunities for professional development. “Having the opportunity to apply my skills in support of Queensland’s energy transition is very rewarding. We’ve got ambitious targets to meet and I want to help us get there!”

At the heart of our strategy is a commitment to cultivating a strong organisational identity and culture. We’re focused on creating an environment where everyone feels connected to our purpose and has a deep sense of belonging.

We offer flexibility and unique growth opportunities, ensuring that our team members can balance their professional and personal lives while continually developing their skills and advancing their careers.

Driving Diversity, Inclusion, Equity and Belonging in clean energy

At CleanCo, we're advancing our commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging with a new action plan. This initiative supports our role in partnering with the Department of Energy and Climate and other key stakeholders to champion gender diversity in the clean energy sector.

We are dedicated to the Queensland Government’s “Equal by 30” campaign, which aims for equal pay, leadership, and opportunities for women by 2030. To support this goal, we are focusing on improving our gender diversity data and developing metrics to guide our progress. We’ll also assist in creating a Women in Renewables Strategy, collaborating with the broader energy sector.

Development, recognition and engagement at CleanCo

We are focused on fostering growth, recognition, and engagement through our suite of development programs, collectively known as TRACSS (thrive + Rise + Amplify + Cultivate + Special Sauce). This year, we've expanded our offerings to support and empower our team members at every stage of their careers.

Program Highlights:

  • Amplify: This leadership development program for senior leaders is designed to enhance leadership skills and strategic thinking.

  • Cultivate: A core capability development program featuring six three-hour workshops. It aims to build essential skills and knowledge.
  • Rise: Our newly introduced mentor program, Rise, pairs early-career employees with experienced mentors within CleanCo. This program is dedicated to supporting personal and professional growth, fostering community, and enhancing technical abilities.
  • Employee Engagement and Recognition

An engaged workforce is vital to our strategic goals. Our bi-annual thrive survey plays a crucial role in measuring employee engagement and gathering feedback. This feedback has been instrumental in shaping the TRACSS programs and refining our People Strategy. Results are shared with teams to drive local actions and enhance engagement.

We also celebrate exceptional contributions through the CleanCo thrive Awards. These awards honour individuals and teams who embody our core values—genuine, courageous, collaborative, and curious—as well as those achieving milestones in the Queensland electrical industry.

    Total Rewards Framework

The CleanCo Total Rewards Framework aligns employee remuneration and benefits with our broader People Strategy. This holistic approach integrates development, engagement, well-being, enablement, and retention, ensuring that our Total Rewards offering supports our business objectives and values.

    New and replacement Enterprise Agreements

At CleanCo, we are committed to a contemporary industrial relations framework and employment arrangements that align with our People Strategy. Our goal is to support secure and fulfilling careers for our team members while maintaining a flexible and responsive operating model.

    Performance and Growth

At CleanCo, we’ve refined our performance and growth framework to align with our strategic and operational goals. We recently implemented new performance and growth modules, ensuring a consistent, structured approach across the organisation. Moving forward we’re focused on maintaining team alignment and understanding our workforce’s needs.
