About the Project:

Parklife Metro JV is leading the delivery of the Sydney Metro – Western Sydney Airport project, a landmark transport initiative that will link St Marys to Bradfield and seamlessly connect with the new Western Sydney Airport.

This visionary project driven by a joint venture between Plenary, RATP Dev, Siemens, and Webuild includes the construction of six new stations, 12 state-of-the-art metro trains, advanced rail systems, and a modern stabling and maintenance facility at Orchard Hills.

As the largest public-private partnership (PPP) ever awarded in New South Wales, this $5 billion project is set to redefine the future of Greater Western Sydney by enhancing connectivity and driving economic growth. The Opportunity:

Employed by Webuild, Parklife Metro is seeking a Commissioning Engineer - Electrical to join our team based at Badgerys Creek.

As a Commissioning Engineer - Electrical, you are responsible for overseeing and managing the testing & commissioning (T&C) process of Electrical, Instrumentation & Control Systems, including Electrical Low Voltage Distribution, Electrical Building Services, Lighting, Metering, Electronic Security (EACS, IDS), Building Management Control System (BMCS), Fire Detection, Tunnel Ventilation Control System (TVCS), other related electrical & control system installations and interface with other systems (e.g. mechanical systems, HV, PCS, Communications). This role involves ensuring that all Electrical & Control systems are fully functional, meet design specifications, and operate efficiently in accordance with project requirements. The position requires technical expertise in electrical & control systems, as well as strong project management and communication skills to work with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and checklists for Electrical & Control systems
  • Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment on T&C activities and timelines
  • Ensure necessary documentation is prepared, including manuals, testing protocols, and schedules
  • Oversee the T&C and V&V of all Electrical & Control systems and related equipment. Conduct functional tests to ensure systems operate according to design intent, performance criteria, and safety regulations
  • Troubleshoot Electrical & Control systems and resolve issues identified during T&C or operation
  • Coordinate, facilitate and document outcomes of witness testing for Electrical & Control systems
  • Raise, track and manage the resolution of T&C related punch list, non-conformance & defect items of Electrical & Control systems
  • Act as the main point of contact for all T&C related matters for Electrical & Control systems
  • Collaborate with design engineers, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure systems are tested and commissioned in accordance with the project timeline
  • Provide regular updates on T&C progress, challenges, and resolutions to the T&C Team and project management teams
  • Coordinate T&C activities for Electrical & Control systems with the greater T&C team. Adjust T&C activities in alignment with T&C priorities as advised by T&C Senior Commissioning Engineers, T&C leads and management
  • Support the T&C of interfacing systems (e.g. mechanical, HV, communications etc) in conjunction with other T&C engineers, contractors & vendors
  • Maintain accurate records of T&C activities, including test results, equipment settings, as-built conditions & witnessing activities
  • Compile and submit final Test Reports detailing system performance, issues resolved, and compliance with project specifications
  • Ensure that all T&C documentation is complete and handed over to the client or facility management team
  • Assist in arranging training to facility operators and maintenance staff on the proper operation and maintenance of Electrical & Control systems
  • Assist in the preparation and handover of Electrical & Control systems to the client or operational teams upon successful T&C

Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Electrical / Control systems commissioning or a related field, with a strong focus on Electrical / Control systems functional testing
  • Strong knowledge of Electrical & Control systems design, installation, and operation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with project teams, clients, and contractors
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
