Wealth and Private, which forms part of RBS, includes three lines of business: Commonwealth Private Bank, Commonwealth Private Advice, and Retail Wealth (our strategic wealth partnerships business). The Strategy and Performance team is a key support function to these teams.
The Opportunity
The Senior Project Manager role sits within the Strategy and Performance team. Key services of the Strategy & Performance team are:
- Strategy execution
- Business Performance and Improvement
- Customer Experience, Change Management
- Project Delivery & Business Systems
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead significant, highly visible projects on behalf of the Wealth & Private business. You will leverage your project management and leadership experience to collaborate across Wealth & Private to deliver projects on time with high quality outcomes.
Through delivery of these projects, you will have exposure to the Wealth & Private Senior Leadership Team influencing key decision-making in the delivery and management of projects.
As a leader, you will coach and develop your indirect project team, and play an active role in shaping the culture and professional development of the broader Strategy & Performance team.
Critical to your success in this role will be your strategic and analytical thinking, excellent problem solving abilities and your ability to build strong alliances with internal and external partners.
You will report to the Executive Manager, Projects and Business Systems who reports to the General Manager, Strategy and Performance. The role will have indirect line management responsibility for project team members and SMEs on your projects as required.
Primary Responsibilities
- Leading a team SMEs and analysts to deliver a portfolio of projects across Wealth & Private
- Engaging with senior stakeholders and subject matter experts across the business to scope, design and deliver projects including but not limited to strategy, customer, productivity, people, technology and risk
- Ensuring all projects are delivered in line with CBA and RBS project management processes, governance and frameworks
- Proactively identifying, mitigating and resolving risks and issues
- Managing project financials as required, including contribution to budgeting and monitoring and reporting on benefits realisation
- Maintaining and managing key project relationships across the Group as required, including but not limited to Enterprise Services, Finance, HR, Risk, Change Management and RBS
- Implementing best practice frameworks and tools in line with industry and Wealth & Private, RBS and Group strategic direction
- Deliver Wealth & Private projects on time with high quality outcomes
We're interested in hearing from people who have:
- Minimum 5-7 years' experience leading multiple, complex projects successfully including engaging with senior stakeholders
- Expertise in Project Management methodology (agile and waterfall)
- Proficiency in structured problem solving and hypothesis-led thinking
- Demonstrated experience in workload prioritisation, adapting plans to respond to business needs, and working to tight deadlines
- Demonstrated sound judgement and decision making with respect to projects, people and business outcomes
- Excellent communication skills for senior audiences including written, verbal and interpersonal
- Extensive experience in stakeholder management and influencing, managing within all levels of organisation
- High attention to detail and able to drive outcomes and teams to agreed deadlines
- Exceptional risk and issue management experience and the ability to proactively communicate concerns to stakeholders
- Prior experience as a Business Analyst desirable
