About the Role | Mō te Tūranga
Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, the Sustainability Manager - Strategy and Delivery will enable and empower Countdown to deliver on our 2025 Sustainability Plan by providing strategic support and building capability to achieve our commitments.
The role will see you responsible for:
- Active enablement of the 2025 sustainability goals, across our ‘people’, ‘planet’ and ‘product workstreams.
- Development or acceleration of initiatives to deliver on the 2025 Sustainability Plan and drive operationalisation across key focus areas.
- Leading the implementation of sustainability KPIs for all parts of the business
- Leading sustainability reporting cycles and the preparation and facilitation of updates for the Executive team and other internal stakeholders
- Leading Countdown participation in Group-wide sustainability delivery processes Developing and implementing initiatives to create momentum and build team engagement with sustainability at Countdown
About You | Mōu
This senior level position requires a decisive and energised individual who can drive achievement against our commitments, provide expertise to our internal stakeholders, and continue to evolve our sustainability strategy.
Your experience will likely reflect:
- A degree qualification (or demonstrated equivalent experience), and ideally 5+ years experience in sustainability/environmental roles OR strategy/ transformation roles with sustainability exposure, preferably within a large company/corporate environment
- Proven ability to create project momentum
- Track record integrating sustainability objectives within a complex organisation and achieving buy-in from internal stakeholders
- Experience with Agile
- Experience working in high pressure environments and managing multiple priorities
- Excellent grasp of sustainable business concepts, methodologies, standards and tools, including emerging trends and concepts - and policy developments
- A commitment to relationship building, a values-led, respectful and collaborative approach
- Consumer market experience and retail experience would be beneficial but is not required
