THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Manager Mining at Kogan Creek Power Station, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficient and responsible supply of coal to meet the generation requirements at our power station. This position serves as the single point of contact and accountability for all internal and external operational matters related to coal supply, including quality. Importantly, you will represent CSE as the principal point of contact for our mining contract, ensuring compliance with environmental and contractual obligations while working closely with the mining contractor to optimize coal quality, delivery, and cost through continuous improvement initiatives.

Additionally, this role includes the critical responsibility of managing the Cultural Heritage aspects associated with the Traditional Owners in areas where the Mine and/or Ash Facilities operate. You will also oversee all aspects of the Waste Containment Facilities at Kogan, including safety risks, environmental compliance obligations, ash stacking, contractor management, and water management in line with our asset strategies, ash management plans, and environmental advice.

This role plays a vital part in ensuring the sustainability, safety, and success of our operations at Kogan Mine.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage coal supply from Kogan Mine to meet power station generation requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental and contractual obligations by the mining contractor.
  • Optimize coal quality, delivery, and cost through continuous improvement.
  • Oversee Cultural Heritage aspects with respect to Traditional Owners.
  • Manage Waste Containment Facilities, including safety, environmental compliance, and contractor management.
  • work closely with our Asset and Environment teams to develop, update, and execute ash management plans, mine plans, and environmental compliance plans.
  • Perform other duties as required by business needs.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful, you will

  • hold a tertiary qualifications in Mining or a related field or relevant mining-related experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated broad experience in mining operational functions, with a focus on open-cut coal mining.
  • Experience in mine and coal supply management.
  • Proven contract management skills.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage critical functions effectively.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, influencing, and communication skills.
  • High degree of self-motivation and excellent organizational skills.
